Thread: Some questions about club levels and tourney play

  1. Default Re: Some questions about club levels and tourney play

Good deal on the club stats info. Just spent about an hour on a par 3 maxing out driver control. Didn't want to have mess with it any more in regular play. Also maxed out gap wedge backdoor while I was at it with the shots that missed the green.

The thing is control rating is pointless.

Yeah, hit a no wind PI driver down the middle of the fairway and landed into the trap 20ish yards right from where it should have landed. FTW!

Control rating is NOT pointless. It just is quite far from perfect. If you want to see the effect of control, look under your club at the bar. Assuming you still have clubs that haven't gained much control next to ones that have -- switch between clubs and see the size of the bar. Seven control is quite a large difference in the size of said bar, possibly enough to make a BAD RNG shot not go in the water with a higher control where it would have with a low control. Of course neither shot is anywhere near the hole.

Oh you're right. Thanks for the tip. Gives a better feel for how control works. ✌️

When you pi and the direction goes to the very end of that bar either way then it is pointless especially when you're maxed out on control.

Actually, I'm still a bit confused. I just hit a non-pefect shot but still in pink zone. And the club face dot was outside of that white zone. So does club head white zone only apply to PI?

You were probably using backspin, any applied backspin has an auto control penalty..

By the way that's on a max control driver.

Not necessarily true. Sometimes you backspin and pi and it's in the center. Sometimes it's on the extreme right or left. Same way with just hitting a standard shot although the odds seem a little worse with backspin. Odd how perfecting a tougher shot would penalize.
