  2. Cool Re: Minna No Golf 6: Region Guide

Seni my amigo thanks for the very helpful and informative explanation

Can I just ask as I'm about to purchase a Vita If I buy EGWT6 in England with the net pass on the box.(which will give online)
I then purchase Minna 6 from japan which also has the net pass in the box.
I cannot play both as I cannot connect to BOTH servers due to where my PSN ac is registered?

So my question is can you NOT connect to both servers?

    Thanks in advance

At this time it is impossible to play both online with only one vita. The issue is that the online codes sold with the game, are redeemed using the region locked PS stores. So the japan online pass cannot be activated in the UK store, and the same is true that the Japanese PS store can't activate the other versions of the game.

To clarify the servers themselves are not region locked, it is the online passes having to be entered into the region specific PS Stores that is mucking everything up for everyone. It is a combination of two stupid policies turning into one bad catastrophe for users. Sony only allowing 1 account per vita, and online passes being region specific to the PS Store.

I'll give another example to clarify, right now I'm playing Minna under a Hong Kong account, I have access to ONLY the two Asia versions. If I buy WI it won't even show up in the store for me, and the online pass will be invalid. Not to mention no access to DLC for one of the two titles. Hope this answers your question.

P.S Can still play the games offline obviously.

If you wanted to try out the other servers, it would be possible but also a hassle to swap back and forth between handles. What you would have to do is, backup whatever version you are playing first. Perform a factory reset on your vita, change to an account in the region of the game, play. Backup data, repeat. Obviously this would not be ideal especially when DLC comes out since you only have a limited amount of uses.

Well couldnt u play both online if you have two memory cards? Because i do and one memory card(my 16gig one) has my US playstation account and the other card(4gig) has my asian playstation account on it.. All you would have to do is switch out the cards each time, correct?

I won't pretend to know if this is the case or not, but from what little reading I've done on the subject I think this is probably most likely the case at the moment.

""[The] PSN account is tied to the hardware and the memory card, not just the card, which means that if a second person is using your Vita, it's not just a case of switching out memory cards, it's clearing out all of your saved data on the Vita itself when you do the factory reset," a Sony representative told Wired. "In other words, PlayStation Vita is intended to be played by only one user.""

Something from comment on youtube though.

    1) backup (not necessary though)
    2) deactivate the system: Playstation network -> system activation -> game-> deactivate
    3) sign out
    4) Restore the PS Vita system: Format ->Restore the PS Vita system
when the system asks to format the memory card just press NO.
    5) system restarts and you can sign in with another account.
save games of each account will be stored on the same memory card. PSN store games are tied to an account though.

So I don't how this will work with DLC, and the online pass but could be worth testing.

  7. Question Re: Minna No Golf 6: Region Guide

Thanks Seni. that has virtually killed the idea of getting a Vita

My last question which you may have allready answered is....

If I 1st buy minna on a japenese psn account, then purchase online pass, activate my Vita with this japenese account, and also the online pass....this will allow me to play minna 6.....

Then I purchase the English version on cartridge (which has the online pass included_so not bought from the euro psn store) can I not connect to BOTH servers as I have not used Euro psn for my international online pass..

If this is not an option then I'd rather spend 300 notes on something worthwhile

    Thanks

Currently there is no PROVEN way to play both titles online under one vita. I don't think that the online passes will be saved after factory reset, but I also can't be 100% certain on that since I don't know how DLC and online passes work for save data.

  9. Question Re: Minna No Golf 6: Region Guide

I dont plan on resetting the vita evry time seni, I'm only assuming???? as I dont have a Vita yet.

where do you activate the online pass?
is it on the vita itself?
or only via the psn store?

    Soz for the hassle m8

Personally I would go for the Hong Kong option, that said I would most likely never buy another game for it so the decision is somewhat easier. I have OT2 and only ever played it on trains and on holiday (both of which I can still do if I wish). If I have an urge to play golf at home then I will simply stick EGWT or Minna on the big screen. My addiction and desperation to play new courses (that will soon be as tiring as what we have now) is not so great that I can justify 300 of my hard earned cash. Like Matt says there are better things in life to blow 300 on, prostitution and beer to name just 2!
